Who are we?

We are an adult rowing community at Lake Merced that welcomes all rowers over 18 — from former college athletes to complete beginners. PRC Masters is inclusive and open to everyone regardless of gender, identity, or experience level. What unites us is our enthusiasm for rowing and commitment to growing together as athletes and as a team.

Experienced Rowers: Ready to row regularly? Start with a two-week trial membership for $50 and experience our programming and community before committing to full membership. Sign up here.

New to Rowing? Our Learn to Row program takes complete beginners to confident rowers in just two weekend sessions at Lake Merced. Master the fundamentals and join our community. Register here.

Drop-In/Visiting Rowers: In town for a short stay? Purchase a two-week drop-in pass and join any scheduled session. Get your pass.

Membership

  • $215/month— includes all weekly water & land training sessions, plus home regattas at Lake Merced!

  • Young Alumni (ages 18–26)— 50% discount

  • Away Regattas— travel costs billed separately

Practice Times

  • Monday— 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM (championship team arrive 5:45)

  • Tuesday— 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

  • Wednesday— 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM (championship team arrive 5:45)

  • Thursday— 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

  • Friday— 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM (championship team arrive 5:45)

  • Saturday— 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Beginning September 20)

Access & Equipment

Members enjoy access to our facilities including ergometers, weight room, and a fleet of singles and doubles for independent training. Train on your own schedule while pursuing your personal fitness goals.

Our Cohorts

Novice

For adult rowers in their first year of the sport. Focus on building fundamentals, technique, and fitness, while preparing to move into Club or Championship squads (early advancement possible with coach approval).

Training blends on-water rowing with land workouts. Full gym access included. Participation in home regattas encouraged. 1:1 coaching available to guide progression.

Club

For experienced rowers seeking fitness, camaraderie, and steady technical growth. The emphasis is on health and enjoyment, while still offering opportunities to race locally at Lake Merced.

Sessions balance technical development, fitness, and the social aspect of rowing in a supportive environment. Coaches are available for check-ins as desired.

Championship

Designed for rowers who want to train and compete at a higher level. This squad emphasizes performance and racing, but is open to anyone committed to improvement regardless of prior experience. Dedication matters more than credentials.

Programming follows the racing calendar and includes on-water training, erging, and structured strength work. Athletes receive 2–3 individual coaching sessions per season to set and track personal goals.
